his wallet uses a virtual Visa card which enables users to transact on any website or mobile application in India, it said, adding that customers can also request for a physical card to use at any retail outlet.

With the app, ICICI says users will also be able to recharge their mobile plans, book movie tickets, pay bills, send gifts and split expenses with friends. Users will also be able to add friends to Favourites and send and request money from them, recharge their mobile plans, and also send them gifts.
Users can choose to add a zero-balance savings account to the wallet, which will allow them to earn interest on their idle money, it said. Some personalisation options are also available, allowing users to choose colour themes and card images.
The universal wallet and the savings account are the first two products to be launched as part of the ‘Pockets’ digital bank, it added. Special deals are also available in the app, and ICICI adds that users can easily solve any problems they face with app using the built-in support chat feature.
Commenting on the launch, Chanda Kochhar, Managing Director & CEO, ICICI Bank said, “Today’s youth wants everything instantly, on the go. ‘Pockets’ addresses this need by allowing anyone to open an account on their mobile phone in an instant and start transacting immediately. We believe that Pockets will help shape the future of digital payments in the country.
